The mechanical engineer role at Amazon focuses on designing resilient and cost-effective mechanical distribution systems for data centers. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
Responsibilities
- Work with internal teams to understand user requirements.
- Create data center mechanical designs and collaborate with other disciplines to create a construction document set.
- Develop designs that meet or exceed quality requirements and fall within budgetary constraints.
- Specify appropriate mechanical equipment by working with regional vendors and manufacturers.
- Define site utility requirements by collaborating with local utilities.
- Ensure compliance with city/county requirements and building codes by working with local agencies.
- Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Define project scopes and provide technical support during construction phases.
- Collaborate with commissioning teams to validate installation, operation, and performance of mechanical systems.
- Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
- Travel to sites for reviews and work with onsite field engineers as needed.
