The VLSI Productivity and Infrastructure team is seeking a senior flow/platform engineer to enhance the RTL-to-GDS design flow infrastructure for chip design engineers. This role involves modernizing automation workflows and improving legacy systems while ensuring active projects remain operational. The engineer will work across various domains including synthesis, physical design, and timing. A strong focus will be on developing structured systems and enhancing observability in engineering workflows.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 12+ years of experience in building or operating production EDA, VLSI CAD, or large engineering workflow systems
- Strong hands-on experience with RTL-to-GDS flows and related implementation processes
- Proficient in Tcl and Make, with practical software engineering skills in Python, Perl, Go, or C++
- Excellent Linux debugging skills and experience improving legacy production systems
Responsibilities
- Build and modernize production RTL-to-GDS flow infrastructure across various workflows
- Extend YAML/configuration systems to model workflow intent and validation markers
- Improve launch infrastructure for EDA tool setup and distributed execution
- Develop job-control and observability capabilities for hierarchical workflows
- Collaborate with design and CAD users to debug failures across EDA tools and environments
