Job description
The Strategic Demand Planner & Capacity Analyst role is part of the Cloud Infrastructure Business Operations Demand team at Apple. This team focuses on transforming the planning and delivery of cloud infrastructure by integrating engineering, operations, and finance. The position involves building capacity models to optimize resource utilization and ensure scalability for various Apple services. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional partners to translate demand signals into actionable insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant professional experience, OR a Master's degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years experience in infrastructure capacity planning, operations, data analytics, or related fields.
- Proficiency using Excel, VBA, Python, SQL, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools.
- Hands-on experience building complex forecasting and capacity models.
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex quantitative concepts into concise communications.
- Ability to be onsite for this in-person position.
- Available to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Up to 10% travel required, both domestic and international.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain advanced capacity models that translate service demand into infrastructure requirements.
- Model capacity with deep uncertainty and run scenario analyses to provide insights for decision-making.
- Develop strategies for optimizing infrastructure capacity, including buffer sizing and utilization efficiency.
- Work closely with infrastructure software development teams to automate capacity models.
- Integrate various capacity planning practices to ensure consistency across larger properties.
- Use quantitative analysis to recommend large-scale capacity investments to leadership.
- Manage risks, schedules, and stakeholders to launch infrastructure capacity programs.
- Drive process improvements and develop new tooling for scalable capacity management.
