Job description

This role is part of Apple's Silicon Technologies group, focusing on designing and manufacturing high-performance, power-efficient processors and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. The team is dedicated to ensuring that Apple products can efficiently handle complex tasks, impacting millions of customers. The position involves both pre-silicon and post-silicon testing to identify and resolve hardware bugs. Candidates will work collaboratively with designers and architects to achieve validation goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related field with 10 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of SOC and CPU architecture.
  • Understanding of micro-architecture and memory hierarchy.
  • Familiarity with interrupt and DMA, clock and power gating.
  • Experience with SoC bringup.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Assembly language programming.
  • Expertise in embedded programming with an understanding of hardware-software interfaces.
  • Knowledge of hardware and software debug tools and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Write SoC and CPU directed and random tests.
  • Debug issues pre-silicon or post-silicon.
  • Develop and maintain the system-level software platform.
  • Lead software development and execution plans for SoC projects.
  • Collaborate with designers and architects to accomplish validation goals.
  • Engage with other teams at Apple to develop validation strategies based on product needs.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
