As a Staff or Sr. Software Engineer focused on Developer Experience, you will shape how engineers build with Apple's internal ML Compute platform. Your role will involve designing and evolving tools that enhance the daily workflows of thousands of engineers. You will work closely with users to understand their challenges and prototype solutions that simplify complex infrastructure. The team is diverse and collaborative, dedicated to improving machine learning capabilities across the company.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong Python skills, ideally with experience building SDKs, CLIs, or developer tools
  • Experience designing developer-facing APIs or systems with a focus on usability
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Experience with JavaScript/React and web-based developer tools
  • Familiarity with machine learning workflows, terminology, and common pain points
  • Experience with Kubernetes, observability tools, or developer documentation

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve tools for Apple's internal ML Compute platform
  • Reduce friction and accelerate workflows for engineers
  • Prototype solutions rapidly based on user feedback
  • Ship improvements that enhance the platform's usability and power
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers to build technology for machine learning

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
