Job description

Apple is seeking an experienced database Software Engineer to contribute to the development of its cloud services, specifically within the FoundationDB team. This role involves significant individual responsibility and influence over backend systems that support critical Apple services. Requirements

  • 15+ years of proven experience in designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Swift.
  • Experience with NoSQL, SQL, or other modern data storage systems.
  • Knowledge of security, privacy, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement foundational changes to the database engine focusing on scalability and fault tolerance.
  • Drive the long-term technical vision and roadmap for FoundationDB.
  • Serve as a technical mentor across the engineering organization.
  • Act as the technical ambassador for FoundationDB, collaborating with partner teams.
  • Set up test cluster environments, benchmark, visualize results, and debug code changes.
