The Mechanical Engineer for Cooling System Design and Analysis at Google will focus on developing and optimizing mechanical cooling infrastructure for data centers. This role is part of the Data Center Engineering team, which is dedicated to innovating and enhancing the physical design of data centers. The engineer will utilize analytical tools to improve system performance and ensure compliance with industry standards. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to drive implementation and optimize mechanical systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience with mechanical infrastructure systems and researching merging technologies.
• Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), energy modeling software, hydraulic analysis, and thermal digital twins.
• Experience with design, commissioning, and testing of cooling, heating, and power generation systems.
• Experience leveraging test data to validate and optimize mechanical systems.

• Develop chip-to-chiller steady-state and transient models to optimize performance and predict complex failure modes.
• Investigate and innovate next-generation mechanical systems and emerging cooling technologies using thermodynamic principles.
• Create system-level concepts and schematic designs while guiding technology engagement through collaboration with Engineering and Operations teams.
• Perform evaluations factoring in Capital Expenditure (Capex) and utility consumption to vet proposals.
• Author technical documentation and white papers to present research findings to leadership.
