Job description

The Product Data Scientist role focuses on enhancing the Discover Video experience at Google. This position is part of the Discover Experiences team, which consists of engineers and product managers dedicated to user-facing elements of the Discover product. The data scientist will analyze user behavior and support feature launches while identifying growth opportunities for the video product. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand and quantify the impact of product iterations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), or 8 years of experience with a Master's degree.
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
  • 12 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) is preferred.
  • Experience working as a data scientist on a traditional tech product team is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and report on Discover Video growth, drivers of growth, and launch/holdback analysis.
  • Size and articulate new growth opportunities for Discover Video.
  • Understand the broader Discover Video ecosystem, including how ranking, content quality, and experience interact from the user's perspective.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on launch analysis, product iteration, and impact quantification.
