Job description

The Staff Security Engineer in Product Security Engineering at Google is responsible for creating and maintaining secure operating environments for users and developers. This role involves protecting network boundaries, hardening systems against attacks, and ensuring the security of sensitive data. The engineer will work closely with software engineers to identify and fix security vulnerabilities while leading security assessments and reviews. The position is part of the Cloud CISO Security Engineering team, which focuses on enhancing security across all Google Cloud products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
  • 8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 3 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

  • Architect secure operational protocols and distributed systems from inception.
  • Lead comprehensive security design reviews for business-critical infrastructure.
  • Review designs for vulnerabilities using techniques including reverse engineering, fuzzing, and static analysis.
  • Respond to vulnerabilities with mitigations and hardening.
  • Surface vulnerability patterns and design them out.
