Job description

This role is part of the Thermal Hardware Product Design team focused on developing cooling fan designs for Apple products. The position involves working in a cross-functional environment to create innovative solutions for portable and desktop computers. The candidate will be responsible for various aspects of fan design, including aerodynamic design and manufacturability. Strong communication skills and the ability to analyze complex data are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • BSME or MSME degree is required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical part design experience in areas such as injection molding, stamping, or CNC.
  • Experience in engineering analysis of aerodynamic designs using CFD software.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and self-motivate to resolve design issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using systematic approaches.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D drafting and modeling software.
  • Familiarity with GD&T or SPC or Cp/Cpk.
  • Experience with NX, Solid Works, Creo, or ProE.
  • Prior experience in design for high volume consumer products.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with DC brushless motor design.
  • Experience with AI/ML design tools.
  • Experience with prototype design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop every aspect of Apple's cooling fan designs, including aerodynamic design and system integration features.
  • Analyze candidate aerodynamic fan designs using CFD software.
  • Assist in defining and reviewing tests for thermal module design qualification.
  • Collaborate with top tier fan and thermal module vendors to solve thermal design problems.
  • Review and interpret prototype test data to validate design concepts.
  • Communicate design concepts and results effectively with management.
