Job description
The Senior Data Engineer will join Apple's App Store Data team, focusing on enhancing user and developer experiences through privacy-centric analytics solutions. This role involves designing and delivering reliable data products and services at scale. The engineer will collaborate with various teams, including data analytics and engineering, to ensure high data quality and innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of software engineering skills and data expertise, along with strong communication abilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 7+ years of experience architecting and operating production-grade distributed data systems at large scale
- Expert programming skills in Scala or Java, proficient in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience in modern big data technologies such as Spark/Flink, Kafka, Airflow, Iceberg, Trino, Cassandra, and Kubernetes
- Strong foundational knowledge of data modeling and data warehouse design
- Domain expertise in online advertising measurement, including attribution modeling and campaign optimization
- Hands-on experience with privacy-enhancing technologies such as differential privacy and federated learning
Responsibilities
- Own the design and delivery of highly reliable, privacy-centric data products
- Architect distributed data pipelines and build self-service data platforms
- Implement GenAI-driven observability to ensure high data quality
- Collaborate closely with Apple Services data analytics, data science, and other teams
- Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Build LLM-driven workflows for automated data operations such as anomaly detection and data quality enforcement
