The Network Security Production Engineer for Load Balancing will play a crucial role in managing Bloomberg's global network infrastructure. This position focuses on building and maintaining a scalable, secure, and reliable load balancing environment. The engineer will work on automation tools and practices to enhance network performance and observability. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with architecture teams to implement new technologies that ensure operational resilience.
Requirements
- 4+ years of engineering experience in an infrastructure role or equivalent work experience.
- Extensive experience as a Software, Network Production, or System Reliability Engineer, especially in the Load Balancer space.
- Experience with building, maintaining, and enhancing automation for scalability and efficiency in network infrastructure.
- Experience in infrastructure automation or orchestration frameworks such as Ansible, Airflow, Terraform, Chef, or Salt.
- Proven experience with object-oriented programming languages, preferably in Python.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software tools to manage a large-scale, multi-vendor network with an emphasis on automation.
- Automate the full network lifecycle, including provisioning, configuration, observability, testing, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with architecture and design teams to implement new technologies that ensure scalability and efficiency.
- Develop tools and platforms that enhance the observability, reliability, and performance of the production network.
- Enhance existing monitoring and observability frameworks, integrating intelligent alerting and self-remediation capabilities.
- Define and measure service-level objectives (SLOs) to track infrastructure performance and reliability.
- Write software utilizing orchestration systems to automate tasks and interact with other systems.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and promote software engineering best practices throughout the team.
- Practice and promote the use of a modern software development lifecycle.
