The Mechanical Design Engineer role at KLA involves leading the design and development of advanced semiconductor equipment within the RAPID division. This position focuses on creating precision mechanisms and opto-mechanical inspection systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to transition technologies from concept to production. The engineer will take ownership of the entire design process, ensuring high-quality outcomes in semiconductor manufacturing. This hands-on role requires a blend of technical expertise and innovative thinking.

• Doctorate degree with no related work experience, Master's degree with 3 years of related work experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related work experience.
• Strong understanding of physics and mechanics.
• Experience in semiconductor or high-tech equipment design.
• Proven ability to take designs from concept through manufacturing.

• Lead the design, fabrication, and performance characterization of advanced mechanical systems.
• Build and maintain technical relationships with vendors.
• Own the full lifecycle of mechanical design including requirements specification and feasibility studies.
• Perform finite element analysis, creep and stress relaxation, modal analysis, and thermal analysis.
• Select materials and resolve fabrication methods.
• Utilize 3D solid modeling CAD tools, with ProE/Creo strongly preferred.
• Understand and apply mechanical manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
