JobsSenior Firmware Engineer - GPU
Job description
The Senior Firmware Engineer will join the GPU Firmware Development team at NVIDIA, focusing on developing robust and secure firmware for next-generation GPU architectures. This role emphasizes active development and innovation, rather than sustainment or support. The engineer will work on the GPU Out-of-Band Hub, ensuring efficient management of peripherals and secure communication. Collaboration with hardware architects and ASIC designers is essential to define firmware-hardware interfaces and communication protocols.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in low-level firmware development, embedded systems, or microcontroller programming.
- Strong background in managing peripherals and communication stacks via industry-standard protocols such as SPI, I2C/I3C, PCIe, SMBus, MCTP, and PLDM.
- Expert-level C development skills in resource-constrained environments.
- Experience working with RISC-V or similar embedded processor architectures.
- Deep understanding of software development processes and robust debugging methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities for collaboration with hardware designers and diverse engineering groups.
Responsibilities
- Build, architect, develop, and debug critical firmware running in the GPU OOBHUB.
- Build and optimize high-reliability firmware update mechanisms and telemetry systems for next-generation GPU subsystems.
- Collaborate closely with hardware architects and ASIC designers to define firmware-hardware interfaces and communication protocols.
- Implement secure, modern firmware solutions using high-reliability languages and principles.
- Partner with internal software, hardware, and infrastructure teams to transform architectural features into production-ready firmware.
Benefits
- Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
