Job description

Join the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic MapReduce (EMR) team to work on innovative big data solutions. This hands-on position focuses on developing and managing a massively scaled distributed service that processes vast datasets. You will engage with the open source community and contribute to significant projects while ensuring high-quality software delivery. The role emphasizes leadership, customer obsession, and a passion for massive-scale computing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design
  • Deliver systems and features with top-notch quality, on time
  • Develop new technologies for monitoring production clusters
  • Own the software development process end-to-end
  • Work with engineers and product managers to develop requirements
  • Design, architect, plan, implement, and test new systems and features
  • Deploy and operate the production EMR systems
