Job description

Amazon's Threat Hunting team is seeking a Security Engineer to proactively identify and eliminate undetected threat activities at a petabyte scale. The role involves working with other engineers to analyze security logs and develop innovative techniques to uncover threats. This position is crucial for maintaining customer trust and ensuring a secure e-Commerce platform. The team operates in a dynamic environment, focusing on continuous learning and improvement in security practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant security certifications such as CCSP, CEH, or PenTest+.
  • 3+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, or network security.
  • 2+ years of programming experience in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
  • Experience with AWS products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Query and analyze machine data for evidence of potential threat activities.
  • Support incident responders in investigating ongoing security issues.
  • Reconstruct security events from log data to identify threat actor tactics.
  • Develop custom security solutions to enhance threat hunting operations.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support during non-business hours.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
