Job description

The Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) team is seeking a Systems Development Engineer with an active TS/SCI security clearance. This role focuses on building and supporting Amazon's billing systems in secure cloud environments for U.S. Government agencies. Engineers will work on innovative cloud computing solutions while enhancing operational posture and scalability. The position offers the opportunity to operate at a massive scale and contribute to the efficiency of government services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or CSSLP certification.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 1+ years of experience designing or architecting systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Java.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.
  • 1+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and support Amazon's billing systems in air-gapped cloud environments.
  • Design and implement services and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues related to billing systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver results for customers.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector regulatory requirements.
  • Enhance operational scalability to support platform growth.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
