Job description

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer role at AWS involves designing and implementing energy-efficient mechanical systems for data centers. You will work with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to drive innovation and standardization across global data center designs. This position requires collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and sustainability. You will also provide mentorship and support to the Data Center Engineering community while fostering an inclusive culture.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with CAD software including AutoCAD, REVIT, and BIM 360.
  • 6+ years of design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
  • Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and CFD Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement energy-efficient mechanical systems for data centers.
  • Partner with teams to develop innovative cooling solutions and sustainability initiatives.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for mechanical designs and operational procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement through data analysis and system optimization.
  • Guide project teams through planning, execution, and commissioning phases.
  • Collaborate with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures, and countries.
  • Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications and reports.
  • Drive standardization in the data center mechanical designs.
  • Review and approve critical equipment submittals including vendor Witness Tests.
  • Provide technical support on global Large Scale Events, including participation on investigations and recommendations.
