Job description
The Data Center Electrical Engineer role at Google focuses on overseeing electrical engineering and design matters within data center construction projects. This position requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to make critical engineering decisions to maintain project momentum. The engineer will serve as a technical liaison, ensuring compliance with codes and standards while optimizing power infrastructure. This role is part of the Data Center Engineering team, which is dedicated to advancing the physical design of data centers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, including power distribution and construction support for mission-critical facilities.
- Experience with Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) systems, including switchgear, transformers, and distribution networks.
- Ability to travel more than 50% of the time to provide on-site support across various project locations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical liaison during construction and resolve design ambiguities.
- Perform periodic site walk-throughs and review installation quality to ensure adherence to engineered drawings.
- Identify and resolve conflicts between design intent and physical site constraints before they impact the construction schedule.
- Apply local codes and industry standards to ensure every installation is compliant and safe.
- Act as a technical mentor and advisor to electrical contractors, ensuring the Request for Information process is streamlined.
