The Senior Hardware Power Test Engineer role at Google focuses on supporting hardware board and power designers in the validation and qualification of server-related technologies. This position requires physical interaction with hardware in a simulated data center environment and involves troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical components. The engineer will work closely with design engineers and the lab team to ensure lab readiness for new products. The role is part of the AI and Infrastructure team, which is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge AI capabilities and infrastructure solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience working in a power electronics technical environment, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree.
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field is preferred.
- 1 year of experience in technical leadership.
- Experience with power measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and programmable power supplies.
- Proficiency in scripting languages, Python, and Linux for test automation.
Responsibilities
- Define, execute, and document electrical characterization, validation, and qualification of power distribution networks.
- Troubleshoot and root cause electrical component level defects and design issues with minimal guidance.
- Support design engineers with debug, component validation, and failure analysis of released products.
- Develop test procedures for qualification and targeted testing of Devices Under Test using automated tests.
- Collect and analyze data to enable data-driven engineering decisions during hardware R&D.
