Job description

The Software Engineer Manager for Kubernetes Networking at Google is responsible for leading a team of engineers in developing networking solutions for Google Distributed Cloud. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to manage project goals and contribute to product strategy. The manager will oversee the deployment of large-scale projects and ensure the optimization of engineering practices. The focus will be on building networking abstractions and solutions for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience with networking.
  • 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management role managing direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop an engineering team by shaping career growth and managing sprint velocity.
  • Direct the roadmap, strategy, and execution for Google Distributed Cloud-hosted networking virtualization solutions.
  • Guide the design and development of network connectivity solutions for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Direct the design and delivery of network virtualization solutions tailored for container and virtual machine workloads.
  • Advocate operational excellence by assisting external GDC customers and resolving issues within production clusters.
