The Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer, Special Projects role at Google focuses on overseeing the design, construction, and commissioning of complex HVAC and mechanical distribution systems for data centers. This position is part of the Data Center Engineering team, which aims to innovate and optimize the physical design of data centers. The engineer will ensure compliance with codes and standards while providing technical guidance and support to vendor teams. The role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly in mission-critical environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12 years of experience in design, construction and commissioning of HVAC and mechanical distribution systems.
- 12 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
- Experience in mechanical infrastructure.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time as required.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical support to data center services and operations teams.
- Develop, implement, and manage the mechanical designs at the site level.
- Collaborate effectively with the Engineer of Record to respond to site-specific engineering Requests for Information.
- Work closely with the core engineering team to provide site-specific requirements during the development of the Basis of Design.
- Own and manage site-level power system issues during project execution.
