Job description

The Service Engineer role within the Customer Reliability Engineering team at Microsoft focuses on building and managing end-to-end solutions that enhance operational excellence in the Azure Cloud. This position requires a blend of operational rigor and AI skills to develop intelligent agents and automated systems that improve incident management and customer reliability. The team emphasizes collaboration across various engineering and customer-facing teams to address operational challenges effectively. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud operations, incident response, or problem management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML technologies such as large language models (LLMs) and AI-assisted coding is preferred.
  • Proficiency in big data concepts and query writing using Kusto/KQL and data visualization tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to building intelligent agents, LLM-powered workflows, and AI-assisted coding tools that automate incident triage and operational intelligence.
  • Build and maintain data integrations across incident management systems and Azure DevOps.
  • Identify and automate manual processes while building monitoring and self-healing capabilities.
  • Work with various teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Use metrics to assess operational effectiveness and the impact of reliability improvements.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities during cloud operations and engage during major incidents.
