The Software Engineer role at Apple involves designing, building, and owning the internal tooling that supports imaging engineering and quality workflows across Camera, Photos, and Image Quality. Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software.
- Proficiency in at least two of: Swift, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of REST API design and experience building production REST services.
- Experience building web frontends with React or a similar framework.
- Demonstrated experience integrating AI/ML models into production software systems.
- Working knowledge of asynchronous job execution patterns for long-running computations.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience building production features with LLM APIs.
- Familiarity with multimodal or computer vision models applied to image analysis.
- Experience with vector databases or semantic search for data retrieval pipelines.
- Understanding of MLOps principles.
- Awareness of bias and fairness considerations in AI systems.
- Experience developing native macOS or iOS applications in Swift.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Solr or other search platforms for indexing large datasets.
- Familiarity with Redis as a cache or message broker.
- Comfort working with image data and scientific workflows.
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
- Design and build internal tools that support imaging engineering workflows.
- Develop and maintain Swift applications, React web frontends, and Python REST APIs.
- Collaborate with engineering, science, and quality teams to understand their needs.
- Integrate AI capabilities into imaging workflows and tools.
- Ensure the reliability and maintainability of software systems.
- Debug and optimize asynchronous job execution patterns.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional partners.
