Job description

The Machine Learning Engineer will join Apple's Global Sourcing & Supply Management Solutions team to revolutionize the supply chain using AI/ML technologies. This role focuses on designing and building GenAI-powered features and workflows, collaborating with various stakeholders to translate challenges into practical solutions. The engineer will work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to data-driven decision-making and workflow optimization. This position requires a passion for applying AI/ML to real-world business problems in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field.
  • PhD or MS in a relevant field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in machine learning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle ambiguous challenges.
  • Experience with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Hands-on experience with transformer-based models, including large language models.
  • Familiarity with common GenAI tools and frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of foundational ML concepts including supervised and unsupervised learning.
  • Experience with model deployment pipelines and serving GenAI models in production.
  • Experience working in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and product teams to identify high-impact opportunities.
  • Design, build, and own end-to-end GenAI capabilities for a centralized AI platform.
  • Develop reliable, scalable, and cost-aware GenAI features in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Establish evaluation and monitoring strategies for GenAI-driven features.
  • Develop Text-to-SQL and structured reasoning capabilities for natural-language interaction.
  • Leverage agentic AI patterns to support complex workflows.
  • Communicate trade-offs and system behavior to stakeholders.
  • Continuously research and operationalize emerging GenAI techniques.
