Job description

The Staff Technical Program Manager for Automation Engineering at Google will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects focused on the Pixel Watch. This role involves collaborating with product design teams to influence product definition and architecture while ensuring automation principles are integrated early in the hardware lifecycle. The position requires deep expertise in technical program management and automation engineering, particularly in automated manufacturing equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to manage project schedules and communicate effectively across various teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation/Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in technical program management and automation engineering.
  • Experience leading the specification, development, and implementation of automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working with design teams early in the hardware lifecycle to ensure design for automation principles are incorporated.

Responsibilities

  • Influence product definition and architecture selection in collaboration with product design teams.
  • Generate detailed functional requirements specifications for various automated assembly operations.
  • Partner with manufacturing and automation equipment providers to design and qualify automated solutions.
  • Develop automation implementation schedules and provide technical oversight during testing activities.
  • Manage cross-functional programs with global teams to ensure factory readiness and successful product delivery.
