Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its Automation Development team, which focuses on creating innovative automation equipment for vehicle production. The role involves acting as a liaison between engineering teams and managing project timelines, resources, and test plans to ensure successful execution of high-impact projects.
Requirements
- Experience developing new manufacturing processes from a prototype environment to production
- Experience aligning with project stakeholders, engineering designers, and equipment builders
- Experience with complex electromechanical equipment
- Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., assembly, fastening, dispensing, laser welding, electrical testing)
- 3-10 years of experience as a hands-on mechanical, manufacturing, or design engineer working on manufacturing systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Responsibilities
- Work with manufacturing/design/internal teams to set test plans, DOE’s, and development path for new programs and R&D projects
- Identify and document all project milestones and deliverables and keep project plans up to date, including resource allocations, monitoring schedules, milestones, deliverables, updating percentage completion
- Manage timelines, resources, budgets, communications, quality, risks, whilst uncovering roadblocks, defining critical paths, identifying resource constraints, and any other issues that arise
- Lead and develop all activities around project kickoffs, scope definition, design reviews, testing, and weekly progress reports
- Continuously monitor and measure project processes and activities to identify and communicate potential issues, risks, or problems in a timely fashion and provide corrective action options to drive to resolution
- Lead cross-functional teams in design reviews, functional testing, and installation. Includes resource & dependency alignment, coordination of activities, and transparent communication of project status and risk
- Conduct project evaluations, post-mortems, and drive process change to incorporate learning
- Travel is expected to be up to 20%, primarily domestic with a potential for some international
