The Field Reliability Engineering team at Tesla aims to enhance customer experience by reducing field issues across vehicle systems. This hands-on role involves data analysis, failure analysis, and driving corrective actions to improve vehicle reliability and quality.

• 0-5+ years of hands-on experience in failure analysis, reliability, systems architecture, or related electro-mechanical systems
• Co-ops or participation in student competitions such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or Solar vehicle projects are accepted
• A background in electronics or automotive with an electrical engineering focus is preferred
• Hands-on experience in debugging and testing electrical systems in the automotive or comparable industry
• Broad technical background with previous experience in problem solving and failure analysis
• Proficient in PCBA level troubleshooting and debugging
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Programming Languages & Tools: Python, UNIX, and statistical methods in data analysis
• Degree in electrical, mechatronic, or similar fields/equivalent experience required
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus

• Monitor field performance of products and identify opportunities for improvements
• Execute field investigation
• Data analysis to identify trends and support prioritization of investigations
• Perform vehicle and component level debug and failure analysis
• Identify root-cause of problems using 1st principles and 5why methodology
• Coordinate and dispatch field failure investigations
• Drive containment and corrective action implementation
• Communicate field performance of the engineering system and gather buy-in from engineering peers and leadership
• Contribute to ongoing efforts for continuous improvement at Tesla
