Job description
The Field Reliability Engineering team at Tesla aims to enhance customer experience by reducing field issues across vehicle systems. This hands-on role involves data analysis, failure analysis, and driving corrective actions to improve vehicle reliability and quality.
Requirements
- 0-5+ years of hands-on experience in failure analysis, reliability, systems architecture, or related electro-mechanical systems
- Co-ops or participation in student competitions such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or Solar vehicle projects are accepted
- A background in electronics or automotive with an electrical engineering focus is preferred
- Hands-on experience in debugging and testing electrical systems in the automotive or comparable industry
- Broad technical background with previous experience in problem solving and failure analysis
- Proficient in PCBA level troubleshooting and debugging
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Programming Languages & Tools: Python, UNIX, and statistical methods in data analysis
- Degree in electrical, mechatronic, or similar fields/equivalent experience required
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
Responsibilities
- Monitor field performance of products and identify opportunities for improvements
- Execute field investigation
- Data analysis to identify trends and support prioritization of investigations
- Perform vehicle and component level debug and failure analysis
- Identify root-cause of problems using 1st principles and 5why methodology
- Coordinate and dispatch field failure investigations
- Drive containment and corrective action implementation
- Communicate field performance of the engineering system and gather buy-in from engineering peers and leadership
- Contribute to ongoing efforts for continuous improvement at Tesla
