Job description
Tesla is looking for a Manufacturing Controls Engineer to enhance and maintain advanced manufacturing equipment in a dynamic, automated setting. The role requires practical experience in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in automated, fast-paced manufacturing environments
- Proficiency in programming industrial equipment using IEC 61131-3 languages, particularly structured text and ladder logic
- Experience with PLCs (Siemens is a must, Beckhoff is preferred) and safety implementation
- Knowledge in reading and interpreting electrical schematics
- Experience commissioning and improving automated manufacturing equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and aptitude for learning systems quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including shift work
Responsibilities
- Sustain 24/7 manufacturing operations and quickly resolve equipment failures
- Analyze performance metrics and optimize equipment to maximize safety and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of automated equipment upgrades
- Maintain key documentation, including electrical schematics, for automated systems
- Partner with Maintenance Technicians on servicing and improving automated equipment
