Job description
Tesla is looking for an Environmental Engineer to join their Environmental, Health and Safety Team. The role involves ensuring environmental compliance for Megafactory operations in Texas, developing and improving EHS programs, and managing various environmental compliance activities.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum 3+ years of experience managing multi-media environmental compliance programs in Texas
- Previous experience preparing Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), hazardous and industrial waste compliance, wastewater permitting, and stormwater compliance and reporting in Texas
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, engineers, legal counsel, technical specialists, and management
- Foundational knowledge of EHS laws (EPCRA, RCRA, IFC, DOT, CAA, CWA, OSHA, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge in environmental data analytics and environmental pollution release calculations
Responsibilities
- Support the hazardous and industrial waste compliance assurance program for TX manufacturing sites
- Implement Tesla’s Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) compliance assurance program at Texas manufacturing sites
- Assist with implementing Pollution Prevention (P2) practices and preparing/maintaining P2 plans and regulatory reports
- Complete waste determinations, classifications and profiles in accordance with local, state and federal regulations
- Identify and implement waste reduction strategies in collaboration with stakeholders
- Manage wastewater compliance programs, including industrial wastewater discharge permits and compliance with TCEQ and EPA requirements
- Lead stormwater compliance activities, including development and maintenance of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
