Job description

Join Tesla as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer in Sparks, Nevada, where you'll optimize production processes for the new Semi Factory. This hands-on role involves collaborating with various teams to transform concepts into efficient, high-volume operations, focusing on layouts, yield, and readiness.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a mechanical/manufacturing/design-engineer working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems
  • Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
  • Experience introducing new products and new processes from a prototype environment to production
  • Experience with chemical dispensing systems (e.g. adhesives, potting, coolant, and sealants)
  • Familiar with fastening strategies used in transducer-based torque driving
  • Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation feedback
  • Experience designing production line layouts in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks or CATIA) for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Establish equipment requirements and develop machine concepts for high-volume environments
  • Develop new manufacturing equipment, ensuring seamless integration into production lines
  • Generate layouts for production workstations, optimizing product flow, ergonomics and efficiency
  • Develop specifications and manage RFQ process for new manufacturing equipment
  • Lead and manage project scope from concept through production launch
  • Oversee detailed design of new manufacturing equipment and deliver equipment validation plans that deliver confidence on reliability
  • Coordinate factory readiness and equipment installation
  • Function as lead manufacturing engineer or project manager on new automated manufacturing equipment initiatives
  • Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to design team for process and yield improvements
  • Create detailed manufacturing instructions to train technicians and operators on new processes and equipment
