Job description

The Process Engineer at Tesla is responsible for improving and sustaining manufacturing processes within the Power Conversion System line, focusing on areas such as robotic handling and automated testing. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure process capability and continuous improvement in safety, quality, and throughput.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electronics Engineering, or Industrial Engineering with at least 2 years of experience or equivalent experience
  • Strong ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to develop innovative solutions for manufacturing challenges
  • Proven experience providing clear technical guidance to cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including cross-functional team leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and vendors
  • Strong people management and team leadership abilities
  • Proficiency in GD&T; experience with AutoCAD, Power Query, FANUC, PLC preferred (but not mandatory)
  • Proficiency in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Assembly (DFA). Preferred experience in SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar design software

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep technical expertise in Power Conversion System process areas such as robotic handling, adhesive dispense, and test/inspection systems
  • Ensure each process consistently meets Safety, Quality, and Performance requirements
  • Monitor and analyze process KPIs (Cycle Time, FPY, OEE, Scrap, and Downtime)
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on Safety, Quality, Throughput, and Cost
  • Define, document, and track critical process parameters using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and statistical data analysis (ANOVA, DOE, etc.)
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce Process Control Plans aligned with PFMEA and Control Strategy
  • Support launch of new products, model variants, or materials — collaborating closely with Design, NPI, and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Own and deliver process improvement projects, including concept development, cost justification, and validation
  • Manage procurement, budgets, and schedules for process changes, upgrades, or line retools
