Job description
Tesla is looking for a Robotics Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize high-volume automation equipment for stator manufacturing in Austin, TX. The role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing processes while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Requirements
- Experience improving production processes using data analysis software (Minitab, JMP)
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
- Experience working with automation systems and robotics controlled by PLCs
- Strong hands-on experience with high-volume and pilot manufacturing
- Proven track record of data driven methodology to solve complex problems
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing methods and specify equipment necessary for stator manufacturing, including coil winding, laser welding, and robotic handling
- Develop new highly automated manufacturing lines from concept to production
- Optimize product flow and line efficiency while reducing Capex and lead-time
- Generate machine specifications, documentation and manufacturing instructions
- Generate process flow, failure mode effects analysis, and inspection methodology for new products
- Identify and drive continuous improvement and cost reduction programs
- Collaborate with the Stator Engineering Design team to propose solutions for Tesla’s future products
- Drive excellence in project execution by defining, managing, and executing project timelines
