Job description
The Manufacturing Equipment Engineer will work within the CNC Engineering team to operate, sustain, and improve advanced CNC machining equipment and processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong willingness to learn and collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production associates, while managing various aspects of the machining process.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 1+ year of experience in production machining
- Strong understanding of machining processes and CNC machines
- Understand and Use G-Code
- GD&T and Print reading experience
- 3D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA) and CAD/CAM experience preferred
- Hands-on work will be required
Responsibilities
- Manage the machining process design for existing and new products
- Identify and implement cost reduction and process improvement projects (cycle time, downtime, etc.)
- Participate / Lead root cause investigations into machining defects and downstream production scrap
- Manage the inventory of cutting tools, consumables and fixture components for the machining process
- Create work instructions for the machining process and equipment and train engineering technicians and production associates
- Work with Equipment Engineering and vendors on fixture and equipment corrections
- Participate in feasibility studies for new machining projects
- Work with suppliers to specify, design and manage capital equipment, machining fixtures and cutting tools for new projects
- Participate in the creation of Advanced Quality Planning Documentation
- Assist other departments in business objectives as required
