Job description
Tesla Gigafactory New York is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to design and develop innovative automation equipment and manufacturing processes. The role involves leading automation projects, collaborating with various engineering teams, and optimizing manufacturing performance across multiple energy products.
Requirements
- Advanced Engineering Degree - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3-7 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing industrial automation systems
- Demonstrated excellence with programming and integrating industrial robots
- Proficiency with Solidworks for 3D part/assembly design and GD&T principles
- Track record of successfully leading large-scale automation capital equipment projects
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and 8D problem-solving
- Expertise implementing machine vision systems and feedback control systems
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
- Demonstrated passion for pioneering new automation technologies
Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of automated manufacturing solutions
- Develop integrated robust electrical controls using Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Experience with industrial robot programming and integration
- Create 3D parts and assemblies, and 2D drawings using GD&T principles
- Perform Product & Manufacturing process failure mode analysis
- Set goals, track deliverables, and manage timelines, budgets, and resources
- Analyze and optimize equipment cycle times across manufacturing processes
- Create detailed technical documentation for manufacturing systems
- Work with EHS teams to ensure safety and compliance in automated systems
- Manage automation vendor relationships and lead factory/site acceptance testing
