Job description
As part of the Tesla Supplier Quality Engineering team, you will oversee critical component development and quality management for mechanical parts in energy applications. The role involves collaborating with internal and external teams, conducting failure analysis, and ensuring high-quality components are delivered on time to support Tesla's production processes.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in sheet metal, stamping, machining, or similar mechanical fabrication processes
- Minimum 1 year experience in Quality Systems (PPAP/APQP), NPI, statistical process control (SPC), and inspection methods
- 1 year experience with 3D CAD, DFM, GD&T, and Lean Manufacturing is a plus
- Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong technical writing and discussion ability
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supplier quality performance at the Tesla factory through daily onsite work
- Lead cross-functional discussions for resolution to quality issues related to energy mechanical parts
- Engage with Tesla Quality Engineering and Suppliers on issuing Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs)
- Drive supplier accountability for part quality issues by managing SCAR related activities
- Coordinate New Product Introductions (NPI), line trials, and samples with factory teams
- Support SIE teams for urgent onsite support at supplier sites
- Drive completion of aging Tesla Qualification Process (TQP) tasks
- Work with Quality Engineer for SCAR Verification of Effectiveness (VOE)
- Owner of RFQ's and contract management
- Drive negotiation for piece price and product development
