Job description
Tesla is seeking a Production Engineering Manager for its Gigafactory in Nevada. The role involves leading teams responsible for equipment and process engineering, focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing. The manager will drive improvement initiatives and ensure high performance from their team.
Requirements
- Must understand general manufacturing processes, automation, and controls
- Must demonstrate reliability, initiative, and desire to learn
- Must be adaptable in work schedule and working environment
- Effective verbal and written communications skills along with strong attention to detail
- Capable of providing constructive feedback to subordinates
- Able to drive engineering problems to true root cause and elimination
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
- Multitasks and adapts to constant change
- Able to use Microsoft Office software
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 10+ hours per day, wear air purifying respirator as needed, lift at least 10-20 lbs regularly, perform repetitive motions, and climb ladders/stairs
Responsibilities
- Ensure teams’ safety training is current and document EHS incidents
- Clearly define expectations for the engineering and maintenance teams
- Drive improvement activities from inception through closure
- Set and drive accountability to maintenance strategies and standards
- Focus on movement of process and equipment related metrics in the positive direction
- Innovate processes and procedures to streamline production activities
- Push the team to adhere to strict 5S standards
- Provide support for new equipment installation, startup, and hand over
- Observe all safety policies during task execution
- Collaborate with MFG engineering and controls teams
