Job description

The Project Manager for the Battery Pack Design Engineering team at Tesla will oversee programs from R&D to high-volume production, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to drive collaboration across engineering groups. The role demands attention to detail, quick execution, and adaptability to changing directions while managing schedules and resources effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Experience creating reports, analyses or reporting tools for management
  • Experience in managing or launching hardware products
  • Understanding of the design cycle & design problem solving processes
  • Ability to work cross‐functionally & manage large teams
  • Detail oriented with strong record‐keeping & organizational skills
  • Good overall computer skills, including Microsoft Office & e‐mail programs
  • A desire to increase the effectiveness of your teammates

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for creating, maintaining & communicating schedules & plans for battery projects
  • Drive action with internal & cross functional teams to successfully complete projects within time & resource constraints
  • Identify creative & timely solutions to key program challenges
  • Track project progress & report effectively on status, blockers & changes
  • Develop & maintain effective communication channels to all stakeholders
  • Track resourcing of projects & drive resource balancing between different program priorities
  • Support tracking & execution of design validation testing
  • Identify team priorities & motivate the project team to complete critical tasks
  • Develop systems & best practices for communication & change management
  • Own product BOM accuracy & communication of changes between design, supply chain, PMI & material planning
  • Complete appropriate documentation & ensure accuracy of data across Tesla systems (Enovia, MES, WARP, Polarion)
