Job description
Tesla is seeking an Industrial Engineer to design outbound material flow for Global Factory Design projects. The role involves developing comprehensive process flows for finished product exit from production to final dispatch, ensuring integration between production and logistics operations while applying first principles analysis for problem-solving.
Requirements
- 2+ years of industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering experience with emphasis on material flow/supply chain/process improvement
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and/or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience with FlexSim or AnyLogic for simulation modeling and optimization
- Programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages for data manipulation and analysis
- Experience with supply chain network design
- Experience with layouts in AutoCAD
Responsibilities
- Design innovative material flow strategies for a wide variety of finished goods and raw materials
- Develop and maintain discrete event simulation (DES) models for outbound logistics processes
- Conduct scenario analysis and 'what-if' studies to evaluate different outbound process configurations
- Improve/Design models to aid with predicting material handling labor, warehouse space, and material handling equipment
- Partner with manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, and programs teams to understand process requirements and constraints
- Challenge the assumptions behind manufacturing designs based on first principles approach
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Factory Design layout teams to design detailed material flow layouts
- Develop innovative, cost-effective solutions in automated and manual solutions
- Design conceptual layouts to aid with analysis
