Job description
Tesla is seeking an Industrial Engineer to lead the design and analysis of people flow and transportation systems. The role requires strong industrial engineering fundamentals and the ability to work with ambiguous inputs to design infrastructure that supports factory operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with various teams to ensure successful factory design.
Requirements
- 2+ years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience with emphasis on people flow and transportation
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or other relevant education/experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in simulation modeling, particularly using FlexSim or AnyLogic
- Experience with developing features and modules within discrete event simulation software with FlexScript, C++ and/or Visual Basic (VB)
- Extensive project management experience to make data-driven decisions
- Understanding of people movement solutions (Passenger vehicles, trucks, shuttles, mass-transit, escalators, elevators, moving walkways)
- Experience quantitatively solving ambiguous infrastructure design problems at a systems level
- Experience with layouts in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar modeling tools
- Experience with civil engineering or traffic flow engineering
Responsibilities
- Conduct traffic analyses for the site over time
- Develop solutions for road network expansion and additions with civil engineering groups
- Create business cases for mass-transit systems, based on the nature of the site
- Propose shift schedules and patterns for site arrival and departure
- Evaluate alternate solutions for moving associates and administrative staff through internal factory space
- Develop layout and location for factory amenities with architectural groups
- Collaborate with architectural groups on administrative space design and location
- Collaborate with material flow and factory layout resources to ensure people infrastructure is symbiotic with primary production objectives
