The Principal Software Engineering Manager will lead a team of Site Reliability Engineers and Software Engineers within Microsoft's Intelligent Conversations and Communications Cloud. This role focuses on building and operating critical IC3 services in highly regulated environments, ensuring reliability and compliance. The manager will define technical and organizational strategies while fostering talent development and collaboration across various teams. The position requires strong technical expertise, operational judgment, and effective people leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead a set of Software Engineering and Site Reliability ICs, ensuring strong software engineering fundamentals and high-quality execution.
- Establish and drive technical and organizational strategy for the area, aligning engineering investments with business priorities.
- Guide engineering design and architecture decisions to ensure reliability, diagnosability, security, and compliance.
- Drive strong incident management and a learning culture, emphasizing systemic improvements.
- Develop senior and principal-level talent, including succession planning for managers and technical leaders.
- Partner closely with product, security, compliance, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver durable and scalable services.
- Communicate clearly with leadership, articulating risks, tradeoffs, priorities, and progress.
