Job description

As a Data Center Sr. Civil Engineer at AWS, you will lead civil engineering designs for Amazon Data Centers, working within a diverse team of architects and engineers. This role focuses on managing external civil design consultants and overseeing the design and construction process of data center campuses. You will be responsible for ensuring innovative and efficient designs that meet safety and security standards while optimizing costs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive site civil engineering experience focused on large-scale industrial, commercial, and mission-critical developments
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) registration is required
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and construction of large-scale industrial utility and distribution systems
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and environmental compliance

Responsibilities

  • Manage external civil design consultants through the Data Center design and construction process
  • Review designs for site layout, mass grading, grading and drainage, and utilities
  • Lead permitting, development, and civil design coordination of multiple data center campuses
  • Assist, coach, and mentor lower-level engineers
  • Coordinate with internal and external architects and engineers as a technical resource
