Job description
Apple is seeking an experienced metal tooling and process engineer to act as a technical interface between product design groups and suppliers. The role focuses on developing exceptional metal forming tooling and processes within the supply base. The engineer will contribute to the product design process through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input and will work closely with partner manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth manufacturing process from raw materials to finished products. This position requires collaboration with worldwide suppliers to optimize tools and processes for metal part manufacturing.
Requirements
- 5+ years of stamping industry experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, with a preference for MS or PhD
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Experience with simulation/FEA
- Good knowledge of secondary metal processes such as machining and decorating
Responsibilities
- Assist in the product design process through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input.
- Direct suppliers in the design and manufacturing of tooling and actual part manufacturing.
- Work with partner manufacturing teams to enable robust overall manufacturing process flow.
- Collaborate with worldwide suppliers to design tools and develop forming process parameters.
- Drive optimization of tools and processes at suppliers through DOEs and builds from program start to product launch.
