Job description
The role involves working on the Amazon EC2 Nitro Dataplane team, focusing on virtualized networking and delivering ultra-high performance for EC2 customers. The team is responsible for the packet pipeline that supports various features like firewalls and monitoring across a global fleet. Candidates should have a strong background in kernel or embedded software development, particularly in C/C++ or Rust. This position offers opportunities for mentorship and collaboration with senior engineers while contributing to the development of new EC2 VPC features.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms and data structures
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP
- Kernel or embedded development experience, particularly with Linux kernel
- Scripting experience in Ruby, Python, or Rust
- Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals
- Knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Rust, Python, or Perl
- Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch
Responsibilities
- Be an engineer on a small team and mentor junior engineers.
- Work with the engineering team to manage day-to-day development activities.
- Lead architecture decisions and participate in design and code reviews.
- Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology.
- Communicate with users and other technical teams to collect requirements and describe software product features.
