Job description
The Imaging and Sensing Incubation team at Apple is seeking an FPGA Design Engineer to develop hardware systems that enhance user experiences and enable Apple Intelligence features. This role involves creating FPGA-based platforms and working hands-on in the lab with advanced equipment. The engineer will collaborate with experts in various fields, influencing hardware and system design decisions. The position offers autonomy in design choices and the opportunity to impact future Apple products.
Requirements
- Proficiency with FPGA design tools such as Vivado and Lattice Radiant.
- Strong System Verilog or Verilog RTL design skills.
- Experience with communication interfaces and protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, USB, MIPI, and high-speed serial interfaces.
- BS degree and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
- Experience with image/signal processing implementation in FPGA.
- Understanding of low-level software and Python/Tcl for automation and testing.
- Good understanding of CDC and FPGA timing constraints.
- Experience with CI/CD for FPGA builds and version control best practices.
- AI-assisted coding and design experience.
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with FPGA design experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop FPGA-based platforms from architecture through hardware bring-up.
- Build multi-sensor acquisition and processing systems.
- Make design decisions and see their impact in working hardware.
- Work hands-on in the lab with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Collaborate with and learn from experts in electrical engineering, sensor modules, product design, software, and system teams.
