Job description

The Quality Engineer role at Apple focuses on validating the next-generation MacBook trackpads and keyboards. This position requires a creative and hands-on approach to ensure that devices accurately interpret user interactions. The engineer will work closely with a collaborative team of developers and industry experts, contributing to both early prototypes and mass production. A key aspect of the role is to apply deep technical knowledge while empathizing with the end-user to enhance the overall user experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in firmware validation, embedded development, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in firmware validation or development with a track record of shipping quality consumer products.
  • Demonstrated experience with bug hunting, regression testing, and system-level debugging.
  • Experience implementing AI-assisted workflows and driving their integration into team processes.
  • Proficiency with Python, Bash, Swift, or other scripting languages for test automation.
  • Experience with embedded software architecture and hardware debugging tools.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the validation of MacBook trackpads and keyboards.
  • Architect new test cases that challenge firmware and logic.
  • Act as a strategic partner to Firmware, Software, and Algorithms Developers.
  • Identify scenarios where code functions correctly but the user experience is lacking.
  • Design or program robotic automation fixtures and integrate them into test frameworks.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
