Job description

The Systems Development Engineer role within the Enterprise Engineering organization focuses on managing one of the largest macOS client fleets globally. The team aims to enhance Amazon's security while ensuring a productive user experience. This hands-on position involves macOS administration, tool development, and performance analysis. The engineer will directly influence the macOS experience roadmap using AWS services and DevOps patterns.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, and operating systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 1+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals including networking and storage.
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Java is preferred.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and solve issues in a globally scaled enterprise environment.
  • Manage macOS client tasks including patching, OS updates, and configuration profile deployments.
  • Maintain client management service infrastructure hosted in AWS.
  • Contribute to automation efforts focused on the macOS client fleet.
  • Utilize deep understanding of macOS internals and security frameworks.
  • Handle macOS upgrade lifecycle management at fleet scale.
  • Work with MDM and fleet management tools such as Jamf Pro or similar.
