Job description

The Item Identity Services (IIS) organization is seeking a Software Development Engineer to help architect and build a new AI-native matching platform that will enhance the quality of Amazon's product catalog. This role involves tackling complex problems related to large language models and large-scale data processing while ensuring high performance and reliability. The team values inclusivity and customer-centric solutions, aiming to positively impact millions of customers and sellers worldwide. This position offers the opportunity to work with collaborative leaders and drive significant business impact.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build the AI-native matching platform for product data
  • Serve LLM-based inference over petabyte-scale product data
  • Meet sub-millisecond latency requirements in critical buyer and seller experiences
  • Engineer systems capable of serving millions of requests per second
  • Identify problems and propose innovative solutions to improve the catalog quality

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
