Job description

The Field Quality and Reliability Engineer at Rivian is tasked with ensuring the highest quality and reliability standards for the company's commercial vehicle platform. This role involves analyzing field data, developing quality control systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and enhance product quality. A strong focus on problem-solving and data analysis is essential for success in this position.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure and with a high workload
  • Basic SQL/Python coding experience
  • Understanding of Fundamentals of Reliability such as Weibulls and Nevada Charts
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills using methods like 8D and 3-Way 5-Whys
  • Strong data analysis skills including standard quantitative methods and statistical process controls
  • Proficiency in DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, and 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt is desired
  • 2+ years of experience in a quality manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience or a Master's degree in engineering discipline with 2+ years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Monitor field performance metrics and proactively identify high-impact issues using warranty data.
  • Drive root cause analysis and resolution by engaging cross-functional teams with a data-driven approach.
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques to address issues effectively.
  • Create detailed documentation for customer review and support business cases.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives by integrating lessons learned into relevant processes.
  • Develop and track data-driven metrics for monitoring issues and corrective action effectiveness.
  • Create innovative tools and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Support issue triage and resolution for warranty claims to improve field performance metrics.
