Job description
The Lead CAE Model Build Engineer at Rivian is responsible for overseeing the virtual validation process of full-vehicle assembly. This role serves as the primary link between Design and Analysis, managing the logistics of model maturation and executing high-fidelity model builds for various performance metrics. The engineer will work closely with diverse teams to ensure seamless data integration and communication. A strong background in CAE model building and proficiency in relevant software tools is essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
- 12+ years of dedicated CAE Model Build experience in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment.
- Expert-level proficiency in ANSA, including complex batch meshing and database management.
- Deep understanding of deck formatting, control cards, and element formulations for LS-DYNA, Optistruct, and Abaqus.
- Experience with PDM systems such as Enovia or Teamcenter.
- Solid understanding of Body-in-White (BIW) structures and fastening technologies.
Responsibilities
- Define and track the CAE model build timeline to align with vehicle program milestones.
- Manage resource planning for external vendors or internal teams to meet model delivery targets.
- Lead inter-team communication to gather necessary geometry, BOM, and fastener data.
- Oversee the master assembly of full-vehicle FEA models within ANSA.
- Manage occupant and structural safety model assembly for LS-DYNA.
- Lead the creation of trimmed body models for NVH analysis using Optistruct.
- Construct implicit and explicit models for durability analysis using Abaqus and LS-DYNA.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts for automating repetitive tasks in ANSA.
- Design model databases to be 'AI-Ready' for future predictive modeling.
